Congratulations to Jill Doyle from SRUC Oatridge Campus. Jill, studying for her National Certificate Level 5 for Horticulture with Landscape Construction, has been selected as one of our 2026 Landscape and Horticulture Students of the Year for the Scotland region.
Jill left a career in teaching to pursue a growing love of…growing. She loves the blend of practical skills and theory and has built a portfolio of plants and an understanding of the biology, soil conditions and characteristics alongside her new skills of paving and bricklaying.
She recognises that she might have a teaching talent so will be exploring this avenue as well as considering another year of study or potentially starting her own business.
Jill clearly loves learning and is an excellent role model for the younger students.
Her Lecturer at SRUC Colin Bell said:
“She is very respectful to all peers and always there to offer help and support. As a fantastic team member, this award will be a confidence booster and something that she can showcase when interacting with future clients.”
