Sparsholt College announce their Top Landscape Student!

Adam Goodchild has been named Top Landscape Student for 2023 at Sparsholt College in Hampshire, in doing so, he bags a check for £100 and a chance to win the National Student of the Year.

Adam, an apprentice at Hampshire based TAB Landscapes says “I have found it interesting how different jobs, techniques and materials come together to create a landscaped area. The course has helped improve my confidence whether its undertaking tasks I have carried out before,, or taking on a task for the first time. I have gained knowledge on aspects of the industry I had no previous experience of, such as plant and soil science, plant names, and garden design. The knowledge & skills I have leant on this course are already being used in my workplace, on a daily basis”

Adams employer Tim Bembridge, himself a former Sparsholt student added “Adam has continuously shown at college and at work, an excellent work ethic, and attention to detail. He has a can-do attitude and is not phased by challenges. He is always willing to take part in practical training when learning and quickly picks up new skills”

Adam has also gained praise from Sparsholt’s Apprenticeship Progress Mentor Vicky Aitken who says “Adam is happy to share his knowledge and skills with other apprentices during his practicals, and demonstrates excellent teamwork. With further training and support, Adam would make and excellent supervisor and mentor for any future apprentices at work.

Adam now goes through to the National competition and a chance to win £500 for both himself and the college, in addition to a pair of tickets to the BALI National Landscape Awards at the Grosvenor House, in London on 1st December, good luck Adam!
