Sarah Seery Capel Manor

Next up in our “BALI Chalk Fund at 50” series, Sarah Seery, Trustee and former Head of Horticulture and Landscape at Capel Manor College lets us into her thoughts about her career and opportunities in the UK landscape sector. Sarah – the floor is yours.

What was the best piece of advice you received in your early days?

Throughout my career in landscape and horticulture, the most meaningful piece of advice I received was to consider every opportunity and, where possible, to embrace it. Each new prospect can reveal unexpected pathways for career advancement, spark innovative ideas for personal and professional growth, and open up new ways to enhance both work and life.

How has the fund developed over 50 years?

The Fund has been a significant asset, dedicated to supporting and educating students and employees within the landscape and horticulture sector. Its strength lies in its adaptability.  Over the years, it has evolved to meet the shifting needs of today and the future. The Fund’s impact is evident in the many instances where it has facilitated skills development, ensuring that students emerge job-ready and that employees are equipped to meet new challenges in their workplace and within their careers. Sincere gratitude is extended to Geoffrey Chalk’s widow, whose vision and generosity made these advancements possible – and we’re ready for the next 50 years!

This is just one in the latest series of “The BALI Chalk Fund at 50” series of mini-interviews.
