Congratulations to Samuel Collins from University of Sheffield. Samuel, studying for his Landscape Architecture degree, has been selected as one of our 2026 Landscape & Horticulture Students of the Year for the Yorkshire and North East region.
Samuel used to hate gardening… but after being offered £1 an hour to weed the back garden, he round he actually enjoyed it! Recently graduating and delivering a dissertation he calls his “crowning glory”, he has his first role as a Landscape Architect in practice and is looking to build further on his plant knowledge.
He believes the best way to get young people interested in the landscape is to get them outdoors and involved in planting – incentivised or otherwise!
Senior Lecturer Andy Clayden commended Samuel on being a thoughtful, conscientious and curious student, wishing him well in establishing his career and future endeavours.
